- Protect sensitive plants by building enclosures out of burlap or wood frames and covering them with plastic sheeting.
- Prune trees and shrubs to remove damaged branches. Shape to allow snow to easily fall off.
- Winterize irrigation systems by draining pipes and backflow preventers, and disconnecting water supply lines.
